Meet the Owners: The Family Behind The Training Camp HQ

Every baseball journey begins somewhere.

For some, it’s a backyard game of catch. For others, it’s a dusty Little League field or a late-night batting cage session after school.

For Josh and Brittany Whitlock, it started with a love for competition that carried them all the way to Division I athletics at West Virginia University and eventually professional baseball. Today, that same passion has become The Training Camp HQ, a place built to help the next generation of athletes chase their own dreams.

From West Virginia to Charlotte

Brittany competed as a sprinter at West Virginia University, where she learned firsthand the discipline, consistency, and mental toughness it takes to perform at the highest level.

Josh’s journey led him from the mound at West Virginia to the Chicago Cubs organization, where he played professionally after being selected in the 2008 MLB Draft.

Together, they’ve experienced the highs of competition, the setbacks that shape athletes, and the countless hours of work that happen long before anyone sees the results.

Now, they’re bringing those experiences home to Charlotte.

Why We Built The Training Camp HQ

The Training Camp HQ wasn’t created to be another batting cage facility.

It was built to become a home for baseball.

A place where athletes can train at a high level, families can build community, and players can develop every part of who they are, both on and off the field.

As Brittany puts it:

“We want every athlete who walks through our doors to leave more confident than when they came in. Baseball is about so much more than a swing or a throwing program. It’s about building work ethic, resilience, leadership, and a love for the game that lasts long after the final out.”

More Than Training

Every detail inside The Training Camp HQ was designed with purpose.

From age-appropriate training pods and professional coaching to the Clubhouse Study Hall, Family Zone, and Team Meeting Room, the goal is to create an environment that feels more like a college clubhouse than a traditional training facility.

Because the best development happens when athletes are surrounded by great coaching, supportive teammates, and families who love being part of the journey.

Baseball Is a Mental Game

Physical tools are only part of becoming a great player.

The ability to overcome adversity, respond to failure, and stay confident through a slump often separates good players from great ones.

That’s why The Training Camp HQ places just as much emphasis on mindset, preparation, and consistency as it does on mechanics and performance.

The goal isn’t simply to produce better hitters or pitchers.

The goal is to develop complete athletes.

A Community Built Around the Game

As parents of two young baseball players themselves, Josh and Brittany understand that baseball is often a family affair.

They wanted to create a place where siblings are welcome, parents can stay and connect, teams can meet, and athletes can study, train, and grow together.

A place where families don’t just drop their kids off.

A place that feels like home.

The Road to the Show Starts Here

Whether an athlete dreams of making the middle school team, earning a college scholarship, or one day hearing their name called in the MLB Draft, every journey starts with consistent work and people who believe in you.

That’s the mission behind The Training Camp HQ.

To create a place where athletes sharpen their skills, strengthen their mindset, build lifelong friendships, and discover a lifelong love for the game.

Because baseball is more than a sport.

It’s a community. It’s a family. And for us, it’s home.
