The Training Camp HQ —
Building the Next Chapter of Baseball in SOUTH Charlotte
Where It All Started
If you’re a baseball parent, you’ve probably had this thought: “Is my kid actually getting better… or are we just doing more lessons?”
Youth baseball is full of practices, cage time, and private instruction. Families invest time, money, and weekends chasing improvement. But many parents still feel like something is missing:
a clear plan, honest feedback, and a place built for real development.
The Idea for The Training Camp HQ Was Born
Josh Whitlock pitched at West Virginia University before being drafted by the Chicago Cubs, where he spent years training in competitive baseball environments. Today, he stays close to the game coaching youth players and supporting his own sons as they’ve grown through rec, Challenge, and travel baseball.
But something kept standing out...
Many young athletes were working hard, yet training in environments that lacked structure, guidance, and a clear development path. So Josh and his wife Brittany, a Division I athlete herself, decided to build something different for the Charlotte baseball community — a place where players could train with purpose, develop real skills, and grow alongside other athletes who care about getting better.
Built for Youth Athletes First
The Training Camp HQ is designed for youth athletes first — the years when confidence, fundamentals, and a love for the game are built.
Athletes train alongside coaches who have lived the journey themselves, from college baseball to the professional level, bringing real experience and perspective into every session.
“Because the best coaches are the ones who have actually been there.”
From young players learning the game to high school athletes preparing for the next level, The Training Camp HQ is being created as a place where development is intentional, progress is measurable, and the work athletes put in actually translates to the field.
The Facility
The Training Camp HQ will open at the heart of Charlotte youth baseball near Monroe Road — a 13,200 sq. ft. performance training facility built for serious player development.
The facility will feature cutting-edge training technology used at the highest levels of the game, giving athletes access to tools and insights that were once only available to college and professional players.
Every athlete will have a personal player profile, tracking performance metrics, progress, and session notes so development is intentional and measurable.
Inside the facility, players will train in an environment designed for the full athlete — with a clubhouse atmosphere, study hall space, strength training, and speed and agility work all included as part of a membership designed to help athletes grow and deepen their love for the game.
Every contribution helps bring that vision to life and create a place where young athletes can train, grow, and chase the game they love.

Who We Are
At The Training Camp HQ, athletes train through a structured, phased development plan — the same approach used in college programs and pro organizations. Every session is led by the same coach, building skills step by step with swing analysis, targeted drills, and clear progression.
We bring this level of training directly to you — in our turf trailer, on the field, or at special events — so your athlete gets coaching normally reserved for the highest levels of the game.
Meet Josh Whitlock – Co-Owner, Dad, Coach, Pitcher
Josh has lived the same system he now teaches — first as a Division I pitcher at West Virginia University, then as a drafted player in the Chicago Cubs organization.
He knows progress comes from consistent coaching, clear feedback, and small adjustments that make a big impact. Josh connects with athletes quickly, explains mechanics in a way that clicks, and guides them through the same development model used in elite programs.
Since stepping off the mound, he’s coached players at every stage — refining mechanics, building confidence, and helping athletes develop skills that hold up when it counts.
Meet Brittany Whitlock – Co-Owner, Mom, Marketing Expert, EX-Sprinter
Brittany is a former Division I sprinter at West Virginia University who brings the same focus, consistency, and competitive mindset to Training Camp HQ. As the strategist behind the brand and training vision, she ensures every program is built with clarity and measurable progress.
With a 14-year digital marketing career — working with brands like Martha Stewart, Warner Brothers, and national healthcare organizations — she now applies that expertise to the growth, storytelling, and strategy behind Training Camp HQ.
You’ll also find Brittany leading speed and agility sessions at select camps — bringing her track background full circle and showing athletes that explosive movement starts long before they step into the box.
Brittany and Josh are also parents to two boys who play through the MARA organization — giving them a firsthand understanding of what local families need, what players respond to, and why a space like The Training Camp HQ matters for the community.

How can I start training with Coach Josh now?
When will the The Training Camp HQ open?
We are targeting late Spring 2026 for the opening of The Training Camp HQ in Matthews, NC — a next-generation baseball training environment designed to help athletes train with the same structure, tools, and mindset used at the collegiate and professional levels.
Who can train at The Training Camp HQ?
Athletes of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Whether it’s your first year playing baseball or you're competing at a high level, our programs are built to help athletes improve through structured training, consistent feedback, and measurable progress.
What makes TTCHQ different?
At The Training Camp HQ, athletes train the way collegiate and professional teams train. Instead of large group lessons where players wait their turn, training happens in small development groups so athletes get more repetitions and coaches can provide meaningful feedback. This approach leads to better mechanics, more quality reps, and clearer development over time. After each training session, families receive updates outlining what was worked on, areas of improvement, and what athletes should practice between sessions.
What are Athlete Profiles?
Every athlete receives a digital Athlete Profile that tracks development over time. Families can view session notes, performance metrics, and progress from training sessions. Athletes can also upload videos and stats from games, practices, and external training, creating a centralized record of their development and helping coaches provide more targeted feedback.
How does training work?
Training follows the development system designed by Co-Owner and Head Coach Josh Whitlock, focusing on consistency, mechanics, feedback, and progression. Josh is a former Division I pitcher and Chicago Cubs draft pick, and the program reflects the same structured training environments used at higher levels of the game. As we expand, additional coaches will join who share this same philosophy.
Do I need a membership?
Most training at The Training Camp HQ operates through membership-based programs. Memberships provide access to structured training, athlete development tracking, and the full training environment. A membership is not required for team rentals, private cage rentals, camps, clinics, birthday parties, or special events.
Are memberships available now?
Yes. We are currently offering discounted early memberships as part of our Founding Member program. Founding Members receive special pricing and early access as we prepare for the full facility launch. Because these memberships are limited, we strongly recommend securing a Founding Membership early.
What are contributions used for?
Contributions made through our Givebutter crowdfunding campaign go directly toward outfitting the facility — including turf, batting cages, pitching lanes, training technology, equipment, and athlete development spaces — to create a true pro-level training environment.
Are contributions tax-deductible?
Not at this time — contributions are part of a community crowdfunding campaign and not a nonprofit initiative.
What training do you offer?
Yes — we offer full athlete development including pitching, hitting, defense, strength training, speed and agility, and performance mindset.
Who leads the training?
Training is built on the program developed by Co-Owner and Head Coach Josh Whitlock, former Division I pitcher and drafted Chicago Cubs player, with additional qualified trainers joining as the facility grows.

One felt too big. One felt too hot inside and a bunch of other not quite right’s None felt like home. Then we found it— 24 ft ceilings, air conditioning, perfect layout… just right.

We got a very special invitation to Toronto from Trajekt. Trajekt is MLB-level pitching technology that allows hitters to face real pitchers with accurate velocity, spin rate, and release point. We met the founder and team on a snowy day in Canada. It was one of those moments where you get called up to the next level. You might just see one of their machines at The Training Camp HQ this year 👀

What started as a family trip to Japan quickly turned into something more. Japan’s baseball culture is intentional, fun, and built in a way that reminds you why you fell in love with the game. From an Osaka Tigers stadium tour to facility design inspiration, every detail sparked new ideas for The Training Camp HQ. This trip didn’t just inspire us. It expanded the vision.
