Inside the Build: Creating Big League Energy

As soon as I walked into this space, I had the vision for what it would take for The Training Camp HQ to come to life. It started with painting over the baby blue and purple walls and turning the entire warehouse matte black.

I’ve always felt like you can’t truly claim a space until it’s painted. Once the colors change, the energy changes with it. What felt like an old warehouse immediately started feeling intentional, focused, and ours.

We teamed up with our friend Blake Crocker, baseball dad and one of the sons behind Crocker & Sons Painting. Building a community starts with your own community, and from Blake, to his brother, to their dad, and honorary brother Aaron, they’re the kind of crew you want on site. They take pride in their work, care about the details, and do things the right way the first time.

Every day the transformation became more noticeable. The black walls completely changed the feeling of the facility. The ceilings suddenly felt taller, the lighting hit differently, and the space started taking on the premium atmosphere we had pictured from the beginning. Even unfinished, it already felt sharper and more alive.

One day I was on a video call with Trajekt, the MLB level pitching simulator company, and walked into the warehouse mid call to show them the progress. They got to see my real reaction in the moment because it was the first time the facility truly felt real to me. During lease negotiations and waiting on keys, it felt like I had been holding my breath for months, trying not to get too attached until everything was finalized.

Walking into the warehouse and seeing it fully black changed that instantly. For the first time, I could see the vision standing right in front of us.

And the turf is not even down yet.

Next week the green turf starts going in, and the contrast against the matte black walls is going to bring the entire space to life even more. What started as a warehouse with mismatched paint and leftover colors from previous businesses is becoming exactly what we imagined from day one: a space built with big league energy from the ground up.
