The Training Camp HQ —
Building the Next Chapter of Baseball in Charlotte
Where It All Started
It started simply — two athletes at West Virginia University doing their best to rise to the demands of Division I sports. Brittany was a sprinter. Josh was a right-handed pitcher for WVU who was later drafted in his junior year by the Chicago Cubs.
Those years shaped us. The discipline. The expectations. The feeling that you’re part of something bigger.
And that’s why we believe every kid should have access to an environment that pushes them, supports them, and makes them feel like they belong.
We both carried the same belief:
Every kid deserves that same environment — that one supports them, pushes them, and makes them feel like they belong.
The Dream We’ve Carried Since
For years, we talked about building a place that captured everything we loved about sports — not just the competition, but the mindset and community. From mentors. friendships and teammates that felt like family.
Too many youth facilities miss that. Parents sit on metal benches in cramped areas. Siblings stare at phones.
It’s time for something different.
At The Training Camp HQ, we’re building an environment that works for everyone — where athletes train like pros, parents can breathe, and siblings feel part of the team too.
What Makes Us Different
This isn’t just “another baseball facility.” It’s the next evolution of player development — blending the heart of the game with the structure of college athletics.
Here’s what’s inside:
- ⚾ Open Field Area – full-speed defensive drills and live training, not just cages.
- 👨👩👧 Parent Overlook – comfortable, tech-friendly viewing area (finally, a place to sit and recharge).
- 🧩 Sibling Zone – safe, fun, and designed so nobody’s stuck on the sidelines.
- 🎓 Team Meeting & Study Spaces – goal-setting, video breakdowns, and connection beyond the field.
- 💡 Tech + Fundamentals – pro-level analytics meet great coaching and character development and tech that only the pros get to see.
This is baseball the way it should be — competitive, connected, and family-first.
Innovation Meets Experience
We’re bringing major-league tech to the youth level for the first time.A 12-point biometric swing breakdown. Immersive simulations that measure timing, mechanics, and power, and the ability to see a pitch leaving the pitcher's hand.
The same tools used in MLB and elite college programs — made accessible for kids and families right here in Charlotte.
It’s not about replacing coaches.
It’s about empowering them to help every athlete grow faster, smarter, and with confidence.
Where We Are Now
Our journey starts with a 3,000 sq. ft. pop-up in Matthews, NC — a living preview of what’s coming. Think of it as the BP before the big game — our full 30,000 sq. ft. flagship facility opening in 2026.
Every donation — whether $25 or $2,500 — brings us one step closer:
- One turf square.
- One cage.
- One brick at a time.
This isn’t just fundraising.
This is how the community builds its own training home.
Where We’re Going
This isn’t just about baseball. It’s about creating a space that teaches confidence, discipline, and belonging — for players, families, and future generations.
Because someday, these kids will say: “I grew up at The Training Camp HQ.”
That’s the legacy. That’s the vision. And with your support, it starts right here — in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Who We Are
At The Training Camp HQ, athletes train through a structured, phased development plan — the same approach used in college programs and pro organizations. Every session is led by the same coach, building skills step by step with swing analysis, targeted drills, and clear progression.
We bring this level of training directly to you — in our turf trailer, on the field, or at special events — so your athlete gets coaching normally reserved for the highest levels of the game.
Meet Josh Whitlock – Co-Owner, Dad, Coach, Pitcher
Josh has lived the same system he now teaches — first as a Division I pitcher at West Virginia University, then as a drafted player in the Chicago Cubs organization.
He knows progress comes from consistent coaching, clear feedback, and small adjustments that make a big impact. Josh connects with athletes quickly, explains mechanics in a way that clicks, and guides them through the same development model used in elite programs.
Since stepping off the mound, he’s coached players at every stage — refining mechanics, building confidence, and helping athletes develop skills that hold up when it counts.
Meet Brittany Whitlock – Co-Owner, Mom, Marketing Expert, EX-Sprinter
Brittany is a former Division I sprinter at West Virginia University who brings the same focus, consistency, and competitive mindset to Training Camp HQ. As the strategist behind the brand and training vision, she ensures every program is built with clarity and measurable progress.
With a 14-year digital marketing career — working with brands like Martha Stewart, Warner Brothers, and national healthcare organizations — she now applies that expertise to the growth, storytelling, and strategy behind Training Camp HQ.
You’ll also find Brittany leading speed and agility sessions at select camps — bringing her track background full circle and showing athletes that explosive movement starts long before they step into the box.
Brittany and Josh are also parents to two boys who play through the MARA organization — giving them a firsthand understanding of what local families need, what players respond to, and why a space like The Training Camp HQ matters for the community.
FAQ
When will the full facility open?
We’re targeting early 2026 in Matthews, NC.
Where is the pop-up location?
Our temporary 3,000 sq. ft. mini-warehouse is in Matthews — it’s where all events, demos, and early sessions will take place until the main facility opens.
Is the pop-up location open to the public?
Right now, the pop-up is by appointment only, with occasional Open Gym hours where athletes can hit off our pitching simulator. Open Gym is a $25 donation for 3 tries on the simulator.
Who can train at The Training Camp HQ?
All ages and skill levels — you don’t need to be on a travel team to train with us.
What makes TTCHQ different?
We’re outfitting a 30,000 sq. ft. space into a Nike-level, pro-style training facility where athletes learn technique, mechanics, mindset, and long-term development — not just one-off lessons.
How does training work?
Training follows the proven development system designed by Co-Owner Josh Whitlock, focusing on consistency, mechanics, feedback, and progression. As we expand, additional coaches will join us who share this exact philosophy.
Do I need a membership?
No — you can drop in for events, book sessions, join camps, or choose a membership once the full facility opens to access the clubhouse, study center, be apart of special talks and events + more.
What are donations used for?
Every dollar goes toward outfitting the 30,000 sq. ft. facility — turf, cages, technology, equipment, training zones, and community spaces — to create a true pro-level experience.
Are contributions tax-deductible?
Not at this time — this is a community-funded build, not a nonprofit campaign.
Will you offer pitching, hitting, fielding, and speed training?
Yes — we offer full athlete development: pitching, hitting, defense, strength, speed, and mindset.
Who leads the training?
Training is built on the program developed by Co-Owner and Head Coach Josh Whitlock, former Division I pitcher and drafted Chicago Cubs player, with more qualified trainers joining as we grow.
